We finally know what Daisy girl is allergic to...14 different inhaled allergens! We took Daisy to a doggie dermatologist today to figure out why she keeps getting skin allergies. They did an intradermal (just into the skin) allergy test on her and injected 60 different allergens. 14 plus a control came back positive! Healthy, non-allergic dogs usually have 1-2 positive results. An allergic dog usually has 8-16 positive results. Yep! We weren't joking about her allergies!
Our poor puppy is allergic to a variety of things like black ants, house flies, tobacco, cat dander (Daddy is thrilled with that result!), 4 different molds, oak trees, 2 different grasses, and 3 different weeds. The dermatologist vet made a cocktail of these different allergens and we started Daisy's lifelong treatment of allergy shots today. We start out giving the shots every other day, then every 7, 14, and maintenance of 21 days. She'll be taking an allergy shot every 21 days the rest of her life. She did really well for her first injection today! Hopefully this will help her tremendously and she won't be itchy or have terrible lesions on her belly anymore.

You'll have to let us know how the shots go. The pugs are allergic too, and I've been considering doing allergy shots too. Is it hard to administer the shot?
Hope this really helps Daisy!
Much metta,
John
