The Great Pumpkin

Aunt Wendy came to visit last weekend and we all had a great time hanging out. On Saturday, we headed to Butler's Orchard, a large farm that has pick-your-own crops and a market. To start autumn off right, we went to their Pumpkin Festival. The weather was beautiful and Evan had fun!We ventured through the corn maze...Evan's first ride down the potato sack slide...Taking a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkin...Hmmmm...is this the "one"?Whoops! The pumpkin tackled him...This make a great drum! Can we take this one home? It's my favorite!Evan had a follow-up doctor's appointment today and his is recovering from the bronchitis. He still coughs something fierce every once in a while, but his breathing is clear and much better. Same story for my bronchitis. Daddy is still battling a worse cough than us, as his road to recovery will take a bit longer. Darn that pneumonia!

Evan's 4th tooth has really come down and is quite noticeable now. We're waiting on the other 2 the doctor promised me... Evan is still crawling EVERYWHERE and is really fast. He's cruising around the furniture walking straight and only holding on with one hand now. Is walking unassisted in the near future?

Mears sickbay

During the last few days, everyone in the Mears household has been in the sickbay, including the dog! Daddy had walking pneumonia, Daisy has seasonal skin allergies, and me and Evan have bronchitis. This has been an interesting few weeks! Nevertheless, Evan is still as active as ever and pretty happy, given his condition. Yesterday, he was cheesing it up for the camera...Since he went to the doctor yesterday, we have some updated stats for him. His weight is 22 pounds, 4 ounces, so he is maintaining at the moment. We can thank crawling for that! The doctor also said that he's getting ready to get the front 4 upper teeth in. All 4?! We knew about the front 2, but once I looked at his gums for the other 2, yep, they're coming down!

Evan LOVES looking outside through the sliding glass door. He likes to stand up and pound his hand many, many, many times and kiss the glass. It's quite cute!I don't have the courage to give Evan a shoulder ride yet, but he loves getting a ride from Daddy...Evan really loves his blocks. He'll take the box and dump them all out to pick his favorite 2. Coincidently, he really likes the colors orange and blue (not in this photo, though). Hmmmm...maybe he could help out the Bears since they're bruised up right now.

Movie mania

We've got 2 new videos of Evan to show you. The first is of Evan cruising along the furniture and crawling everywhere. Look at how fast he's getting...

The second video is of Evan dancing. He's gotten much better at it and is really picking up his feet now. We'll post that video later. Then Evan shows everyone how happy he really is...laughing at Daisy's squeak toy, giggling at the video camera...

I can feed myself!

Mealtime can be quite fun in the Mears household. Evan is working on his hand-mouth coordination and starting to feed himself Gerber puffs. They're good in that they basically disintegrate in his mouth, if he gets it there. Some days that is just the issue...getting it in the mouth...Evan's been interested in feeding himself with his spoon as well. We encourage it and don't mind the mess a bit.Bon appetit!

More teeth!

Evan has more teeth! His top left tooth cut through this past week. We can see his top right tooth is just about ready to cut. All in all, he takes to teething pretty well. He really likes the chilled water-filled teething toys.Evan is definitely all over the place. It's fun to see how quickly he advances. One day he's wobbly while standing, the next he's cruising around the furniture.Still sticking that tongue out (can you tell I think it's absolutely adorable?!)Deep in thought...Evan has also taken to dancing along with his musical Leap toy. It's hilarous! Jason captured it on video yesterday, so we'll download that soon. Keep grooving!

Lil' Blue Eyes

Sometimes it's hard to see the exact color of Evan's eyes in the pictures I post. I think the color is captured quite well in these current pictures. Evan has the most beautiful blue eyes (well, he and Jason are tied!)...Still sticking his tongue out! This Leap musical toy adjusts to a baby's height and development level. Evan's been playing with it for a long time. Now, if he wants to play with it, he is crawling "around" our baby-proofing set up and starts banging away with it. So cute!Have a great weekend, ya'll!

Goof-monster

Ahhh, our little man is at it again. He's so goofy and I swear I say that every day to Jason. This past weekend he made us double over in laughter as Evan discovered his face in a toy mirror.Wow, who's that cute boy...gotta get a close-up!Lately, Evan's been sticking his tongue out all the time. It's adorable...OK, if you're not appreciating this post already, you will now. Evan loves crinkle and this puppy on the cover of the book has crinkle ears. Well, he was chewing on the ears (totally normal)...Then he decided to crawl over to Daisy with the book still in his mouth! Maybe he was trying to act like Daisy to win some brownie points with her?Whooo-hooo! This is fun, Daddy!I took a picture of Evan in his high-chair eating breakfast today. Look at how much he's grown and changed since he first had solids.
