Check-up

Evan went in for his 15-month check-up on Thursday. He's doing great! He is a big boy and has grown a lot since his 12-month check-up. He weighs 25 pounds, 5 ounces (65th percentile) and is 32 1/4 inches in length (80th percentile)! Evan's learning everything according to schedule and even showed off for his pediatrician. When she asked if he points to things, he pointed to the cow on the wall. When she asked what sort of words he says, we told her the usuals like dada, baba, mama, Daisy, moo, etc. After Evan pointed to the cow, he said "moo". Such a show off! Dr. DeSouza got a big laugh out of that one. All in all, everything checked out well and he's a happy and healthy boy!

Evan running

People ask us all the time if Evan is walking yet. Uh, yeah...he's running! Literally! He loves our new townhome as there is a lot of room to run around and be chased. Evan and Daisy chase each other a lot. Here's a glimpse of a day in the life of the Mears family...(p.s. Aunt Wendy - notice the "done" sign Evan does at the end of the video...you taught him that at Easter!!!)

Cherry Blossoms

It's that time of year again...Cherry Blossom season! Daddy, Mommy, and Evan headed to the Kenwood neighborhood in Chevy Chase/Bethesda again this year to see the beautiful blossoms. It was a gorgeous day after work, so we started off by sharing a yummy ice cream treat. This child LOVES ice cream!I was wondering how Evan would react to all the flowering trees since he's a lot more inquisitive this year. He loved them. Evan started off by batting on the tree limbs, causing the flowers to bounce and some petals fell off. He loved staring at the limbs and trees...Beautiful flowers this year. We visited during the peak blooming time...Posing with Mommy...
And Daddy...The Kenwood neighborhood is so beautiful and where a lot of the "locals" go to see the blossoms. It's neat to go to downtown DC with the cherry blossoms around the monuments and tidal basin and all, but the crowds downtown are terrible. We visited Kenwood after work during the week and it was perfect.Evan's traditional pose in the blossoms...
My, how he's changed from last year...
After taking in the blossoms, Evan went swinging at a local playground. He had a blast!Cheese!

New York, New York

This past weekend I spend the first weekend away from Evan in his entire life. I ventured to New York City for a girls' weekend getaway with some of my great college friends. We had a blast! I've never been to NYC before and it was so much fun! We'll definitely be back. We walked a ton, as my friend, Alyssa, calculated that we walked about 5 miles on Friday alone! Phew! On Friday, we visited St. Patrick's Cathedral, among other things. It was beautiful...Here is the view from our hotel room on Saturday morning. Look...the sky is clear! It didn't downpour rain the whole weekend, but on Friday and Sunday it was dreary and cloudy. We lucked out not having rain!Saturday we celebrated Alyssa's 30 1/2 birthday. A large group of Alyssa's friends and family had a delicious Italian dinner. Posing for a picture are (left to right) Shelly, me, Amy, and Alyssa...great picture, huh?! After dinner we went to see A Chorus Line on Broadway. The show moved us to start dancing on the street...The next morning, we headed off to Little Owl, a quaint and fabulous restaurant in Greenwich Village. Posing outside in the crazy wind are (left to right back row): Kristin, Alyssa, me, Erin, and Amy. Front row (left to right) are Suzi and Shelly. We had a great weekend! Plans are already set for next year's girls' weekend. It should be a blast! Of note, Evan, Jason, and Daisy had fun this past weekend also. Daddy took plenty of video (as Mommy stole the camera for her trip), so we'll post the movies soon so you all can see what Evan's been up to. Stay tuned!
